A lover of books.

Back in the days when we were kids, our house was overflowing with books. There is no topic under the sun, we didn't have a book on the subject. I remember whenever we hear my Dad coming home, we all grab something to read as he walks in. I remember asking him, what's up with the books? and he told me a story how he went through school without a single textbook to his name and the first chunk of money he got afterwards, he bought as many books as he could. He set very high standards in education but it didn't take much please my Dad. Just trying and being thoughtful was all it took. I remember those days the surest way to get money off him was to tell him about a book you needed and hope he doesn't already know about it and be sure we don't already have it and most of all that he wouldn't have the time to go with you to the bookshop to buy it. As he loved books, so he loved taking care of them. The easiest way to get on my Dad's bad side was to damage your books or bookmark a page by folding it. I remember some free time we spent together binding books or getting him to teach me mathematics, or just sitting and listening to his stories of the civil war and his childhood life. Just a few of my many fond memories. Forever in my thoughts. Gabriel Nwoffiah II
