Tribute to a caring father-in-law, Chief G.N. Nwoffiah

Created by Gabriel Nwoffiah II 12 years ago
With a heavy heart, I make this tribute to a man who was my father-in-law for 27 years. A caring and loving father, an exemplary family man, an excellent Agriculturist, a devoted catholic faithful, Vice-Chairman of the Parish Council of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Umueze-Anam, a gentleman and a totally committed com- munity man. G.N., for 27 years you called me your son and showed me love as one of your sons without discriminations. My children benefited so much from your wealth of knowledge. I recall how you engaged them during holi- day periods on virtually all subjects which made them excel in their academic pursuits. G.N., I never remembered you falling sick at any time because you were a very strong man. You suddenly took ill and was brought to Christ the King Hospital and Maternity, Awka. I did not believe the illness was as serious to cause your death. I recall my frequent visits to the hospital during the short period of your hospitalization to make sure you were provided with all necessary medical attention for quick recovery, but this was not to be. Ooh G.N., I never stopped at any time during this period to think or imagine that you will be gone so soon. Your death in the early hours on 13th March 2012 was shocking and devastating to me and my family, be- cause my wish and that of my wife (Joy) – your eldest daughter and our children was that you live to see all your grandchildren get to the height of their ambitions and even give you great grandchildren. G.N., your strength of character and total devotion to the service of God at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umueze-Anam will forever remain a reference point. Be assured that all your good works and what you stood for shall remain ever green in our memories, in remembrance of your worthy achievements. May the almighty God grant you eternal rest in heaven. Goodbye G.N., Goodbye Papa. Opigo Nwankwo
